What is Bamboo over Porcelain?
Bamboo over Porcelain is THE YUNXI’s exploration of porcelain-body bamboo weaving. The Daily Cup combines a porcelain vessel with bamboo woven by hand around its exterior, creating a cup designed for coffee, tea, and everyday use.
What does the bamboo add to the cup?
The bamboo is more than a decorative layer. The woven surface creates a thermal buffer over the covered area, helping make hot drinks more comfortable to hold while adding tactile depth and material contrast.
The temperature you feel will still vary depending on the drink, so please handle freshly poured hot beverages with care.
Who is involved in making the bamboo weaving?
The Bamboo over Porcelain series is developed in collaboration with Liu Luolin and her studio. Liu participates directly in the weaving and provides craft guidance as the traditional technique is adapted to a contemporary daily-use cup.
Is the Daily Cup made to order?
Yes. Porcelain bodies are prepared in small batches. After your order is placed, the bamboo layer is woven and finished by hand around the completed porcelain form, followed by final inspection and packing.
Please allow 2–4 business days before dispatch.
What is the difference between Natural and Baked?
Natural features a lighter, softer bamboo tone. Baked has a warmer, deeper color created through the treatment of the bamboo.
Both versions use the same porcelain form, capacity, and weaving structure. The Natural + Baked Duo includes one cup in each finish.
Will every cup look exactly the same?
Not exactly. Bamboo grain, tone, and handwoven details naturally vary from piece to piece. These subtle differences are part of the material and the making process rather than defects.
Variations that affect the cup’s structure, stability, or intended use are not considered normal craft variation.
How should I care for my cup?
Hand wash gently using a soft sponge and mild detergent. Avoid prolonged soaking. Do not place the cup in a dishwasher or microwave.
After washing, towel-dry the porcelain and allow the bamboo to air-dry completely before storing it.
Orders & Shipping
Where does THE YUNXI currently ship?
We currently offer delivery to the 48 contiguous United States and Washington, D.C.
We are working to expand delivery to additional U.S. destinations and countries around the world, and hope to make these options available as soon as possible.
Is standard shipping complimentary?
Yes. Complimentary Standard Shipping is included for eligible US orders. There is no minimum purchase requirement.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Please allow 2–4 business days for made-to-order bamboo weaving, finishing, final inspection, and packing before dispatch.
After dispatch, Complimentary Standard Shipping generally takes 6–12 business days. The estimated total time from order placement to delivery is therefore approximately 8–16 business days.
Carrier, customs, weather, holiday, and address-related delays may occasionally affect delivery.
Will I need to pay duties or import charges?
No import duties, import taxes, customs-clearance fees, or brokerage charges should be collected from you at delivery. THE YUNXI ships eligible US orders on a duties-paid basis and handles these import-related costs.
Applicable US state or local sales tax, if required, is calculated separately and displayed at checkout.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order if you need to cancel it, change the selected option, or correct the shipping address.
We will do our best to assist, but changes and cancellations cannot be guaranteed once bamboo weaving has begun or the order has been dispatched.
How can I track my order?
You will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information after your order has been dispatched.
Tracking may take a short time to become active after the carrier receives the shipment. If no update appears after several business days, please contact us at support@theyunxi.com.
Returns & Support
Do you accept returns if I change my mind?
Yes. Although the standard Natural, Baked, and Natural + Baked Duo options are woven to order, they are not personalized.
Eligible unused items may be returned within 30 calendar days after delivery. The item must remain in its original condition, unwashed, unused with food or beverages, complete, and free from stains, odors, scratches, water damage, or other signs of use. Sets must be returned as complete sets.
The customer is responsible for tracked return shipping for a preference-based return.
How do I start a return?
Contact support@theyunxi.com before sending the item. Please include your order number and the reason for the return.
Once the return is approved, we will provide return instructions and the authorized return facility. Returns sent without authorization, or sent to the address on the original shipping label, may not be accepted.
Where should I send my return?
Approved returns must be sent to our authorized return facility in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. Contact support@theyunxi.com before shipping. The complete address and customs instructions will be provided after your return is approved.
Who pays for return shipping?
For a preference-based return, the customer is responsible for tracked international return shipping to our authorized facility in Nanjing, China. THE YUNXI does not charge a restocking, inspection, internal forwarding, or repacking fee.
Why are preference-based returns sent to China?
Our authorized return facility in Nanjing is where Bamboo over Porcelain pieces are received, identified, and assessed using the same product standards applied before dispatch.
Centralized inspection allows us to verify the porcelain, bamboo weave, set components, protective packaging, and whether the item remains unused and eligible for refund.
A returned piece will only be considered for future sale if it is completely unused and can be prepared again to the same condition, quality, and presentation standards expected for a newly fulfilled order. Any item that does not meet those standards will not be sent to another customer.
The complete return address and customs instructions are provided after a return is approved.
What amount will be refunded?
For an approved preference-based return, we refund the eligible item price and applicable sales tax to the original payment method.
We do not charge a restocking fee or deduct the original complimentary Standard Shipping, outbound import duties, customs-clearance fees, or brokerage charges.
What if my order arrives damaged, incorrect, or incomplete?
Contact us within seven days of delivery and provide your order number, photographs of the item, packaging, and shipping label, together with a brief description of the issue.
Once confirmed, THE YUNXI will arrange an appropriate replacement or refund at no additional cost. Please do not return broken porcelain unless we specifically ask you to do so.
Do you offer exchanges?
We do not currently process direct preference-based exchanges. If you would like a different finish, you may return the eligible original item and place a new order.
Confirmed damage, defects, incorrect items, or missing components may be resolved through a replacement rather than this standard return-and-reorder process.
